MONTEGO BAY, St James- The Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) officially launched its member-to-member discount card at their Overton Plaza headquarters on Tuesday.

Providing an overview of the Membership Discount Programme, director and chair of the MBCCI Gabrielle Lee explained that the participating members provide an agreed discount to their fellow members who are discount card holders, a move which she describes provides tangible benefits.

“The purpose of the discount programme is to provide tangible benefits to the members of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, which ensures that members are top of mind for purchasing needs and also the beneficiaries for specific discounts and/or benefits during purchasing activities,” Lee said.

“For example, you have decided to give a five per cent discount. Any entity that is participating, once the other member comes in with the discount card, you will avail them that discount that you have agreed to.”

President of the MBCCI Winston Lawson explained that the card, which has a one-year lifespan, is now ready for its January 1 distribution date.

“The member-to-member discount programme forms part of a non-negotiable duty for this chamber in providing directly for its due paying members,” Lawson expressed.

Lee, who lauded Lawson for his vision in initiating the product for the membership of the chamber, revealed that a growing number of members are participating.

“Its been a long road putting this thing together and I am really, really happy to see the number of participants who have decided to join. It keeps growing on a daily basis in terms of number of people who wants to participate in this programme,” Lee remarked.
