Retired Land Surveyor And Montego Bay Business Stalwart To Be Honoured At Montego Bay Chamber Of Commerce Awards Banquet
The Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre. This year’s Banquet promises to be an over the top glitzy affair with star quality execution by Main Event Entertainment, a powerhouse in event planning and production. National Commercial Bank heads the list of sponsors and partners who will assure a spectacular night.
The Guest Speaker will be the Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, Minster of National Security representing the Prime Minister The Most Honourable Andrew Holness ON, MP.
This year’s theme, “Embracing Modernization, Championing Advocacy” celebrates 86 years of solid leadership from an organization that has grown from a vibrant citizens association to a formidable body, lobbying tirelessly to have the needs of its members and citizens of the Parish addressed. According to Chamber President Winston Lawson “our achievements showcase the tenacity and astute stewardship of our board and past executives. We are pleased to honour those who have invested their time and energy in building the commercial value of our city and salute the 2018 inductee to the MBCCI Wall of Fame, renowned land surveyor and businessman Winston Dear. Mr. Dear will be recognized for his exemplary contribution to several civic and government organizations as well as his personal interest in the growth and commercial development of Montego Bay and nation building in general.”
The Wall of Fame was introduced in 2015 as a way to recognize individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the community for no less than 20 years, in the following areas:
1. Industry Leadership
Nominee must demonstrate leadership involvement with an outstanding project that has had a dynamic and lasting effect on the community or wider parish. It could also be a project that has impacted a particular industry.
2. Exemplary Dedication
Nominee must have 20 years running a business that serves the community in an outstanding and exemplary manner, promoting a positive image of that industry and have positive relations with the community.
3. Product /Service Innovation/Professional Achievement
Nominee must be responsible or directly involved with the innovation or creation of a product or service sold in the marketplace that has driven industry and trade and which must have a lasting effect on the community.
Mr. Dear leads the list of other deserving awardees spanning business development, and outstanding contribution to the Chamber and its support base. This year’s awards will include citations presented to 4 longstanding Montego Bay businesses and institutions that continue to contribute profoundly to the city.
